The First Georgian Educational Tour to Zakynthos & Peloponnese
The First Georgian Educational Tour to Zakynthos & Peloponnese
The outbound tourism market of Georgia has long shown strong interest in Greece — but knowing a destination from brochures and truly experiencing it firsthand are two very different things. This idea became the foundation of a project that introduced Georgian travel professionals to Zakynthos and the Peloponnese in a completely new way.. Legend Travel, with the support of The Westin Resort Costa Navarino, W Costa Navarino, The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Navarino, Domes Aulūs Zante, Autograph Collection, as well as the valued support of Sky Express and Luxury Travel DMC, successfully organized the first-ever educational tour from Georgia to the island of Zakynthos and the Peloponnese peninsula.
Twelve representatives of leading Georgian travel agencies became pioneers of this new destination. During several unforgettable days, they did not simply inspect resorts — they experienced them firsthand, evaluating every detail through the eyes of tourism professionals while imagining these experiences for their future clients.
Zakynthos — The Island of Sea Turtles, Turquoise Waters and Endless Summer
Zakynthos — or Zante, as Europeans lovingly call it — is unlike any other Greek island. It is not simply beautiful: every corner, every curve of the road and every reflection on the water feels as though it was created specifically to take your breath away. From the very first moments, the group was immersed in the island’s warm, relaxed and irresistibly charming atmosphere. The group stayed at Domes Aulūs Zante, Autograph Collection — a luxurious beachfront resort where space, design and service exist in perfect harmony. Whitewashed villas and suites overlooking the Ionian Sea, tropical terraces surrounded by greenery and pools blending into the horizon all speak one language: the language of exceptional relaxation. Domes Aulūs Zante, Autograph Collection has long become one of the most desirable addresses in premium Greek tourism, and the group experienced this personally from the very first hours of their stay.
Lying on a sunbed at Domes Aulūs Zante, Autograph Collection while watching the sun slowly disappear into the Ionian Sea, one suddenly realizes: this is exactly what clients mean when they say, “I want to experience the real Greece.”
Navagio — The Viewpoint Above the Edge of the World
If there is one place on the island worth traveling for, it is undoubtedly the viewpoint overlooking Navagio Beach. Standing on the edge of dramatic white cliffs nearly two hundred meters high while gazing down at the turquoise-blue waters and the lonely rusted ship resting on the white sand below, you understand that no photograph in the world can truly capture this feeling. Navagio Bay — also known as Shipwreck Beach — received its name in 1980 when the smuggling ship MV Panagiotis was wrecked here. The waves carried the ship onto the shore, where it remains to this day: motionless, rusting and somehow becoming the bay’s most iconic feature. The viewpoint offers a scene reproduced billions of times through camera lenses — yet in real life it always feels like seeing a miracle for the very first time. The viewpoint can only be accessed from above via a mountain road, while the beach itself is reachable exclusively by boat, surrounded on all sides by inaccessible cliffs that only add to its aura of a hidden paradise.
Cruising Around the Island — When Zakynthos Reveals Its True Beauty
The best way to truly understand Zakynthos is to experience it from the sea. That is why one of the highlights of the program became a full island cruise. During the journey, the group visited the famous Blue Caves, admired Navagio Bay from the water, sailed past the majestic cliffs and natural arches of Cape Keri and explored Laganas Bay — one of the Mediterranean’s most important habitats for the rare Caretta-Caretta sea turtle. Particularly unforgettable were the hidden coves with crystal-clear waters where every shade of blue appeared unreal — although nature here needs no filters at all.
Zakynthos Town — The Venetian Soul of the Ionian Sea
The island’s capital became another unexpected discovery of the journe Despite the devastating earthquake of 1953, the city managed to preserve its unique Venetian character. Narrow streets, elegant arcades, atmospheric squares, the Lombardo waterfront and Bohali Fortress overlooking the bay create the feeling of a living Mediterranean town rather than a tourist attraction. Zakynthos knows how to welcome guests. It can be felt in the aroma of freshly baked pastries in the morning, the sounds of lively tavernas in the evening, the smiles of local residents and the wonderful ease with which time seems to slow down here.
Crossing to the Peloponnese — Entering Another World
The next chapter of the journey led the group to the Peloponnese peninsula. The ferry from Zakynthos arrived at the charming mainland port of Kyllini, from where the group continued toward Costa Navarino — one of the Mediterranean’s most prestigious resort destinations. The road through endless olive groves, pine-covered hills and the landscapes of Messinia gradually prepares travelers for something truly extraordinary. And Costa Navarino fully lives up to every expectation.
Costa Navarino — A New Generation of Greek Luxury
Costa Navarino is not simply a resort. It is an entire world where contemporary luxury blends perfectly with nature, history and Mediterranean philosophy. Here, the group was welcomed by Olga Theodoridou, representative of the Costa Navarino resort collection — a person whose dedication, professionalism and sincere passion for the destination played a truly essential role in bringing this project to life. Her personal involvement, attention to every detail and authentic Greek hospitality became one of the key reasons why this first Georgian educational tour to Costa Navarino was realized at such an exceptional level. Over four unforgettable days, participants explored the complex’s flagship properties: The Westin Resort Costa Navarino, W Costa Navarino, The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Navarino
The Westin Resort Costa Navarino
The flagship of the resort and its very heart. The : The Westin Resort Costa Navarino is located directly on the shores of Navarino Bay overlooking the legendary sea where one of the most decisive naval battles in world history took place in 1827. Spacious rooms and suites with panoramic windows, several swimming pools including infinity pools overlooking the bay and the Anazoe Spa — one of the largest and finest spa complexes in Europe — set a standard of luxury that is difficult to forget.
W Costa Navarino
Bold, vibrant and contemporary —W Costa Navarino speaks an entirely different design language. Here, daring colors, unexpected shapes and a playful reinterpretation of Greek aesthetics meet global lifestyle culture. The W Pool, live music in the evenings and elevated cocktail culture create an atmosphere designed for guests seeking not only relaxation, but also energy and unforgettable experiences.
The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort
If The Westin represents grandeur and W symbolizes energy, then The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Navarino is the soul of Costa Navarino. Located just steps away from the traditional village of Romanos, the resort embodies Mediterranean luxury without unnecessary excess. Villas with private pools hidden among olive groves, wooden pathways above the sand and the iconic Barbouni restaurant directly by the sea — everything here is about slowing down, silence and enjoying the moment.
The Taste of Greece — Gastronomy as Part of the Culture
Costa Navarino is a true gastronomic universe. The resort’s restaurants transform every meal into a journey across the regions of Greece. Fresh seafood, Messinian olive oil, local cheeses, Peloponnesian wines and traditional recipes all become part of the overall philosophy of the experience. A particularly memorable moment of the program was a traditional cooking masterclass organized by Olga Theodoridou in an authentic Messinian countryside house surrounded by olive groves. Participants did not simply observe the cooking process — they personally prepared tzatziki, authentic Greek salad, homemade hilopites pasta and traditional zucchini pie using recipes passed down through generations. Following the masterclass, the evening continued with a lively music and dance program featuring traditional Greek dances, live entertainment and the unforgettable atmosphere of filoxenia — the unique Greek art of treating guests like family. It was during moments like these that participants truly understood that Greece is far more than simply a holiday destination.
Voidokilia — The Perfect Finale
The final stop of the journey became the legendary Voidokilia Beach — one of Greece’s most breathtaking natural landmarks. The perfectly shaped bay, white sand, crystal-clear waters and panoramic scenery create the feeling of a place existing outside of time itself. It became the perfect conclusion to a journey that turned out to be far more than just an educational tour — it became the opening of an entirely new destination for the Georgian tourism market.
Greece Has Become Closer
The first educational tour by Legend Travel to Zakynthos and Peloponnese became an important step in promoting these destinations within the Georgian outbound tourism market and gave travel professionals the opportunity to experience the region firsthand.
