Geologists confirmed the springs' hot mineral waters in the 1920s, and Sairme has operated as a health resort since 1930, its bottled mineral water sold across Georgia since 1945. The surrounding valley stays snow-free and dry even when nearby areas are covered — a quirk locals noticed long before geologists explained it.
Unlike the busier spa towns of Borjomi and Abastumani, Sairme remains genuinely low-key: deciduous and coniferous forest presses right up to the resort's edge, and most visitors come specifically for treatment programs rather than sightseeing.
