Rhodes Town and the Archaeological Museum

Duration: Up to 4 hrs

Trip Description

Rhodes is one of the few cities in the world where the medieval and the modern exist side by side in perfect harmony. The newer part of the city impresses with its grand Italian-era architecture, bustling boutique quarters, and the port of Mandraki — instantly recognizable by its famous deer statues standing sentinel at the harbour entrance. At the island's northern tip, a rare natural spectacle awaits: the point where the Aegean and Mediterranean seas meet.

The Old Town, by contrast, transports you to the age of the Knights. The Palace of the Grand Masters looms over narrow cobblestone streets, while the monumental Street of the Knights — once the address of the Order's principal tongues — remains as commanding as ever. A fitting end to the walk is the Archaeological Museum, housed in a former Knights' hospital and home to a remarkable collection of ancient and medieval artifacts unearthed across the island.
